Clerestory & Awning Window Hardware

Pictured is an example of an antique clerestory window. Before the days of air conditioning, this type of window was frequently used in large high-ceilinged rooms to let the hot air out. The problem has always been how to open and close them. the pictured window was formerly opened with a pull chain and had a tape balance to close it. As the building is now air conditioned, the chain was removed for aesthetic reasons, and the window is now non-operational. Today, these windows can be operated with a crank style awning window operator in combination with a clerestory window pole.
