Spirals are usually used to anchor the sash chain to the window. For best results, wind the spiral through the sash chain twice, place the spiral in the knothole in the side of the sash, and drive a screw through the chain into the center of the knothole pulling the spiral tight into the knothole. This will prevent the spiral from scraping against the window jamb.
