How to Measure The Backset of Your Door Preparation
A standard door preparation has a 2 1/8 inch diameter hole drilled through the door. The backset is the measurement from the center of this hole to the edge of the door.
How to Determine Your Door Handing
Always determine door handing from the outside of a door. (Exterior or Hall side.)
From this viewpoint, the hand of the door will be the hand on which the hinges are installed.
