Typically this window lock is mounted on the top of the bottom sash. The 3 provided strike plates are mounted on the top sash at the fully closed position, a vent position for safety, and a fully open position.
To open the window, one pulls the knob and rotates it 90 degrees. The bolt is now held in a retracted position. The sash is then raised to the desired height and the knob is rotated 90 degrees to release the bolt. The window is now locked in its new position.
This window spring bolt is especially suited for
retro-fitting to older windows lacking balance systems or to any sash requiring a multi-position lock.
Three strike plates are furnished with each lock to provide locking
in up to 3 different positions. May be used to frustrate intruders
while the window is in a partially open position.
Base dimensions: 1 1/8" x 1 1/4"
